Joe Speronza was born and raised in a suburban town in northern New Jersey. After receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Montclair State University, he went on to launch a small business in screen printing and graphic design. Throughout his life he has been influenced by comic art, the punk rock music scene, skateboard culture, and street art. Many of his artistic tendencies are drawn from these interactions.
Joe’s work speaks about the thoughts, confrontations, and reactions that occur in everyday life. Some of these may be public, but most are often kept private to keep up appearances. With a mix of realism and graphic style, Joe's work shows the struggle to fit in to a conventional world. Joe’s compositions juxtapose the real and imaginary. Through his bold color choices, he conveys an emotion or feeling that anyone can connect to. His current paintings display a world where robots interact with humans. These characters walk the line between protection and harm. As an artist, Joe continues to evolve, but his work maintains an accessibility to all audiences at its core. |
